Does it work with my camera?
See the compatibility list. Your camera needs its Send to Computer Wi-Fi function. If you are unsure, send us your exact model before purchasing.
I can’t use “Send to Computer”—my camera asks me to register the destination computer first.
This is common on cameras that were never activated with Sony’s PlayMemories Home app. Sony ended downloads for the Mac and 32-bit Windows versions in 2020, which can make setup particularly difficult on macOS.
You have three ways to set the camera GUID:
- Use RawShare’s experimental setup. Connect the camera to your phone, then tap
Set camera GUID. You may need to grant permission first; if so, grant it and try again. - Use a Mac or PC. Follow the instructions in the Sony GUID Setter repository.
- Use PlayMemories Home on Windows. You can still download PlayMemories Home from Sony, then follow Sony’s instructions for registering the destination computer.
Why are the thumbnails so low quality?
This is a technical limitation of these Sony cameras. They generate thumbnails at a fairly low resolution, so RawShare can only display the thumbnail data the camera provides.
Why can’t I open previews?
RawShare is designed for cameras set to capture RAW + JPEG.
The JPEG is used for the preview.
In your camera Settings, under Quality/Image Size, select File Format to be RAW & JPEG. Then, in JPEG Image Size, choose the smallest JPEG size available (usually S: 6.0M) to save space on the camera and make previews open faster, because there is less data to transfer.
Can I use RawShare with an iPhone hotspot?
Unfortunately, no.
I’ve been researching this for quite some time, and unfortunately, it is not possible.
If we get into the technicalities, the reason is that an iPhone hotspot does not create a proper LAN, unlike most Android phones. On an iPhone hotspot, devices are isolated from each other and their requests are forwarded only to the Internet.
This is super frustrating, as it kinda breaks the whole point of the app (working on your photos on the go), and makes iOS users dependent on third-party Wi-Fi networks. I hope you have friends with Android phones ;)
Do I need the internet or a RawShare account?
No. I want to keep it minimal, so no internet or account is required.
Where do my transferred photos go?
On Android, RAWs are saved in Downloads/RawShare, thumbnails and JPEGs for previews are cached in the RawShare app folder and might get cleaned up by the system automatically, so sometimes they have to be refetched.
On iOS, both RAWs and JPEGs are saved in the Documents directory, and might be not visible in gallery (will be improved soon!), depending on iOS version. You can still use the Share function in the app to transfer it to other apps (i.e. file manager or image eidtor)
Why can’t I see my camera?
Confirm that Send to Computer is active and that the camera and phone are connected to the same local Wi-Fi network. An Android hotspot can also work; an iPhone hotspot cannot.

No. RawShare is built by one photo/IT-enthusiast an independent app and is not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by Sony Group Corporation.
